About Us

Early in 2020, Jane Perini and Wib Middleton of Thunder Mountain Publishing were contacted by two longtime residents of Loudoun County who had just seen a magazine from neighboring Montgomery County, Maryland called PLENTY. They were intrigued by its content and the overall visual appeal of the publication with its emphasis on the importance of preserving and celebrating its 93,000-acre Agricultural Reserve. Would a magazine like PLENTY work in Loudoun County they mused? So began exploratory conversations, ferry trips across the Potomac, and forays into the stunning countryside of western Loudoun County. The result? The birth of WANDER magazine with its tag line: Savor the Beauty, Bounty & Byways of the Loudoun County Countryside.

WANDER is a highly collaborative publication. It gives voice to the enterprising residents of Loudoun who live and work there, have a deep love of the land, its history, rural character and hopes for its future. WANDER will tell their stories about multi-generation growers, land preservation, great getaway adventures and B & Bs, profiles of wineries and breweries, agriculture trends like regenerative farming, local CSA (community supported agriculture) options, Loudoun artists and artisans, Loudoun-made products, and more.

With guidance from new Loudoun County friends and the talented writers, photographers and stakeholder advertisers who have made the premier issue what it is, we thank you from our hearts. You all made this happen! And for the readers of WANDER, feel free to connect with your story ideas, feedback and thoughts. We welcome them and thank you for your kind support!
